Sabbath Greetings for 5 - 2000

Sabbath Greetings for 5-6-00  Be Happy !

Reading time 5 minutes

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Sometimes we get into a ‘blue funk’ and nothing seems to satisfy us.
We have days or even months where we’re not happy.
Some people seem to live their entire lives that way, don’t they?

Is there an answer?
Yes, there are several.
There are a few keys to having a life filled with pleasure and joy.

“If it feels good – do it”  IS NOT THE ANSWER.
That only leads to paying the price later.
Proverbs 14:12  There is a way that seems right to a man,
But its end is the way of death.

So, what is the key?
(Probably no one will be too surprised at the answer.)
Actually there are several.
We could have guessed that the answer to such a broad question
would be more than a word or two.

First key is to FEAR AND LOVE YAHWEH.
Psalms 128:1-4  Blessed is every one who fears Yahweh,
Who walks in His ways.
2. When you eat the labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you.
3. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house,
Your children like olive plants all around your table.
4. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears Yahweh.

Of course it’s not just in our family that the blessings come.
When we fear Yahweh then we don’t need to fear anything else.
Some bad things may still happen to us,
but “We know that all things work together for good
to those who love Yahweh,” Romans 8:28a

Second key is to HAVE A HAPPY ATTITUDE.
Some may call it PMA – Positive Mental Attitude
Psalms 32:10-11  Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in Yahweh, mercy shall surround him.
11. BE GLAD IN YAHWEH and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
Psalms 33:1  REJOICE IN YAHWEH, O you righteous!
For praise from the upright is beautiful.

Knowing that Yahweh is our Elohim we may well have a happy heart.
I often sing “Oh give thanks unto Yahweh! (Psalm 136)
There is so much to be thankful for!!!!!!

Another key is to STAY OUT OF TROUBLE.
It’s easier to be happy when things are going well for you.
Proverbs 3:13  Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
And the man who gains understanding;

We also need to DO THINGS FOR OTHERS.
That really does contribute to a person’s peace and happiness.
Proverbs 14:21  He who despises his neighbor sins;
But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.

Another key is to have A FAMILY BASED ON YAHWEH’S WAYS.
What a blessing a loving family is!
Psalms 127  Unless Yahweh builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless Yahweh guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
2. It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep.
3. Behold, children are a heritage from Yahweh,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one's youth.
5. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

Review the article “A Loving Family” on the web at:

The sixth key is to SEEK CORRECTION from Yahweh.
Job 5:17  "Behold, happy is the man whom Elohim corrects;
Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
Hebrews 12:6  because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son."
James 1:2  My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

I know there ought to be seven keys but I must be forgetting one.
Write and remind me what it is.

I’ll just conclude with two very encouraging scriptures
that sum up how to be happy.

Deuteronomy 33:29 “Happy are you, O Israel!
Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh,
The shield of your help and the sword of your majesty!
Your enemies shall submit to you,
And you shall tread down their high places.”

Psalms 146:5-10  Happy is he who has the Elohim of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in Yahweh his Elohim,
6. Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever, 7. Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh gives freedom to the prisoners.
8. Yahweh opens the eyes of the blind;
Yahweh raises those who are bowed down; Yahweh loves the righteous.
9. Yahweh watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down.
10. Yahweh shall reign forever; Your Elohim, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise Yahweh!

Friends, let us indeed Praise Yahweh together on this Sabbath Day!!!

Sabbath Greetings for 5-13-00   Joy !

Reading time 3 minutes

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Last Sabbath I wrote:
“I know there ought to be seven keys [to happiness] but I must be forgetting one.
Write and remind me what it is.”

Either nobody reads these things or you couldn’t think of anything else
that should make a person happy.

Well, I searched the scriptures a little more and I found this wonderful Psalm:

Psalms 32  Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2. Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3. When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long.
4. For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah
5. I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, "I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh,"
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
6. For this cause everyone who is saintly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found;
Surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him.
7. You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah
8. [Yahweh answers,] “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9. Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.”
10. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in Yahweh, mercy shall surround him.
11. Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Paul quoted verses 1 and 2 of this Psalm in Romans 4:7-8

John used the idea from v 5
1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

V 10 reminds us that of the importance of trust in Yahweh.
We call this ‘faith’ and it is the basis for His mercy toward us.

Don’t you love verse 11!
Be glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

HalleluYAH ! !

Yahweh’s forgiveness is surely one of the best reasons to be happy and rejoice.
Friends, may Yahweh bless you with faith and rejoicing on this Sabbath Day.

               2 Peter 3:8             90:4

The writer of Hebrews, probably Paul, used Psalms the most – twenty times.

Some of our treasured and important passages include quotes from Psalms.
Here are a few:

Acts 4:10-12  "let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel,
 that by the name of Yahshua the Messiah of Nazareth,
whom you crucified, whom Yahweh raised from the dead,
by Him this man stands here before you whole.
11. "This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders,
which has become the chief cornerstone.'
12. "Nor is there salvation in any other,
for there is no other name under heaven given among men
by which we must be saved."

Romans 3:10-12  As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;
11. There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after Yahweh.
12. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one."

Romans 4:7-8  "Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8. Blessed is the man to whom Yahweh shall not impute sin."

Romans 10:18  But I say, have they not heard?
Yes indeed: "Their sound has gone out to all the earth,
And their words to the ends of the world."

Ephesians 4:8  Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high,
He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men."

Ephesians 4:26  "Be angry, and do not sin":
do not let the sun go down on your wrath,

Hebrews 1:5-13  For to which of the angels did He ever say:
"You are My Son, Today I have begotten You"?
And again: "I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son"?
6. But when He again brings the firstborn into the world,
He says: "Let all the angels of Yahweh worship Him."
7. And of the angels He says:
"Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire."
8. But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O Yahweh, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom.
9. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore Yahweh, Your Elohim, has anointed You
with the oil of gladness more than Your companions."
10. And: "You, Yahweh, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11. They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12. Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed.
But You are the same, And Your years will not fail."
13. But to which of the angels has He ever said:
"Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool"?

Hebrews 2:6-8  But one testified in a certain place, saying:
"What is man that You are mindful of him,
Or the son of man that You take care of him?
7. You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
And set him over the works of Your hands.
8. You have put all things in subjection under his feet."
For in that He put all in subjection under him,
He left nothing that is not put under him.
But now we do not yet see all things put under him.

Hebrews 3:7-12  Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:
"Today, if you will hear His voice, 8. Do not harden your hearts
as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness,
9. Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years.
10. Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said,
'They always go astray in their heart, And they have not known My ways.'
11. So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.'"
12. Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you
an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living Elohim;

Hebrews 5:5-6  So also The Messiah did not glorify Himself
to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him:
"You are My Son, Today I have begotten You."
6. As He also says in another place:
"You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek";

Hebrews 8:1  Now this is the main point of the things we are saying:
We have such a High Priest, who is seated at
the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,

Hebrews 13:5-6  Let your conduct be without covetousness;
be content with such things as you have.
For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
6. So we may boldly say:
"Yahweh is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

Hebrews 13:15  Therefore by Him let us continually offer
 the sacrifice of praise to Yahweh, that is, the fruit of our lips,
giving thanks to His name.

1 Peter 3:10-12  For "He who would love life And see good days,
Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.
11. Let him turn away from evil and do good;
Let him seek peace and pursue it.
12. For the eyes of Yahweh are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers;
But the face of Yahweh is against those who do evil."

2 Peter 3:8  But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with Yahweh
one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

I’m impressed and inspired by the great knowledge
these writers had of the scriptures.
I guess we’ve got a lot of studying to do.
I better get busy.

Friends, may Yahweh bless you
with His powerful and Holy word on this Sabbath Day.

Sabbath Greetings for 5- 27 - 00  Son of Man

Reading time 5 minutes

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Psalms 8:4-6  What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
5. For You have made him a little lower than the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.
6. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,

The name "Son of Man" appears frequently in the scriptures.
Psalm 8 is clearly prophetic concerning the Messiah.
Daniel 7 contains another great Messianic prophecy.

Daniel 7:13-14  "I was watching in the night visions, and behold,
One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.
14. Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
and His kingdom one which shall not be destroyed.

Most of the times the term ‘son of man’ is used it is in the book of Ezekiel.
That prophet is consistently referred to as ‘son of man’ by Yahweh.
He is often a type of Yahshua the Messiah.

In Hebrew ‘son of man’ is ‘ben Adam.’
Adam means man as well as being the name of the first man.

Yahshua the Messiah uses this term about eighty times to refer to Himself.

Of particular interest is:

Matthew 25:31-33  "When the Son of Man comes in His glory,
and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
32. All the nations will be gathered before Him,
and He will separate them one from another,
 as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

This is one of the times we see Yahshua, the son of man, as the judge.

In John 5 Yahshua explained his role as judge to some antagonistic Jews.
How thankful they should have been to have a judge who
knew their temptations and their weakness!
It is a measure of Yahweh’s love that he sends us such a judge

John 5:20-22  "For the Father loves the Son,
and shows Him all things that He Himself does;
and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.
21. For as the Father raises the dead and gives life to them,
even so the Son gives life to whom He will.
22. For the Father judges no one, but has committed ALL JUDGMENT to the Son,”

While Yahshua recognized his position as the son of Elohim,
he cherished his position as the son of man.
He knew we needed him to be our merciful and righteous judge.
He knew we needed him to be our kinsman-redeemer.
As well as being our king, he is our brother.

John 5:26-29  "For as the Father has life in Himself,
so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,
27. and has given Him AUTHORITY TO EXECUTE JUDGMENT also,
28. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which
all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29. and come forth;
those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

In John 1:49-51 when Nathanael said to Yahshua,
"Rabbi, You are the Son of Elohim! You are the King of Israel!"
Rather than acknowledge the title of Elohim or king,
Yahshua answered him, "Most assuredly, I say to you,
hereafter you shall see heaven open,
and the angels of Yahweh ascending and descending upon the Son of Man."

He seemed to really value his role as Son of Man.

Hebrews 4:15-16  For we do not have a High Priest
who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses,
but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace,
that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Praise Yahweh for sending Yahshua the Messiah!

Friends, may Yahweh bless you as you learn to know and love
the Son of Man, our brother Yahshua.
