Dear Friends in Yahshua,
This Sabbath, we’re going to look at the last part of Yahshua’s prayer
with his disciples in John
17. He continues talking with his Father about these people he
loves so much:
John 17:20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will
believe in Me through their
word;”
Look! He’s praying for us! He’s praying for YOU! Let’s see what he asks for us.
John 17:21 “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and
I in You; that they also may
be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Unity! Just like a family where every individual is in harmony
with the others. The Father and
Yahshua already have a relationship that is so close that they act
in perfect unity at all times.
Now, believers in Yahshua are to be included in this closeness.
We are to have a relationship with
both the Father and the son that will illuminate everything we do.
There is no such thing as the
‘Old Testament Father against the New Testament son.’ That concept
is quite absurd. On the
contrary, we are to have great faith in Yahshua and the Father together
and people will believe in
Yahshua’s coming from the Father because we live that unity and love
every day. This is unity
that has real POWER!
John 17:22 “And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that
they may be one just as
We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may
be made perfect in one, and that the
world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have
loved Me.”
WOW! We are to participate in the unity AND the glory AND the
love of Yahshua and Father
Yahweh! All of this is not for the glory of Yahshua or even of
the Father but is so that the world
can understand these relationships and this love. Perhaps some
will become members of this
family themselves in this way.
John 17:24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be
with Me where I am, that
they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me
before the foundation of
the world.”
Yahshua wants us with him. He wants to show everyone how great
the Father’s love is for his
children. This isn’t a case of, “I’ve got it so you can’t have
it.” This is more like, “Look how
wonderful our Father is! Come and join us!” Strong’s says that
the word translated ‘behold’ can
also be rendered as ‘experience’ – “. . . that they may experience
my glory. . .”
John 17:25 “O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have
known You; and
these have known that You sent Me. 26 And I have declared
to them Your name, and will
declare it, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them,
and I in them.”
Yahshua has and continues to declare Yahweh’s name to his disciples.
He says that name is
somehow linked to the father’s love being in us.
Friends, may Yahweh fill you with his love through his son, our savior, Yahshua the Messiah.
We expect to see the new moon next Friday evening 9-10-99. Watch
for it! Many of us will be
observing this first day of the seventh month beginning at that time.
See Lev 23:23-25. More on
that next Sabbath.
