Sabbath Greetings for November 1998

Sabbath Greetings for 11-7-98       Y2K
[Remember Y2K? I thought of leaving this off the web site but decided to leave it on for amusement or other lessons learned]

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Here is a different topic:

Y2K- a Concise Review.

Once upon a time, when computers were very young and cost a lot for very little memory, the programmers said, "We can just say '78' for the year instead of '1978'! It will save two bytes of memory every time we write the date."

It seemed like a good idea at the time when there were twenty or thirty years until the end of the 19xx's..

BUT there is a problem.

When a computer counts the next minute after midnight 12-31-99, it may then have a date that makes no sense to it. Instead of 1-1-2000 it may see 1-1-00 or 1-1-80. This will cause errors in lots of programs that are running. Instead of calling for a delivery tomorrow the computer may cancel all orders because it thinks the date they are needed is years in the future.

This is called the 'Millennium Bug' or the 'Year 2000 Problem' or just 'Y2K'.

The year 2000 is almost upon us now and our lives are dependent on computers in so many ways. The banks cannot operate without them, all transportation is managed and directed by them, and power companies use them to run their systems too.

What kind of computer problem can deprive you of the things you need? No one will truly know until the bugs start munching on our well-being on 1-1-2000.

For example, the airlines are dependent on their own computers but they are also dependent on the computers of the airports, their fuel suppliers, their food service suppliers, their crews' support structure, the power company, the water company, etc. etc. at both ends of every flight. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has already said they are going to stop operations on 12-31-99 and they do not know when they will be able to resume.

The point of this discussion is merely a friendly warning to those we love. "The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer;" Proverbs 30:25.

This is a time to be prepared. Some 'experts' are saying that a run on banks and stores will be starting soon and getting worse as the day approaches. [Where have we heard that phrase before?] Banks may be especially vulnerable to problems. Even if they are all prepared, they could have serious problems if a lot of people need their money at once. Or if people just think they may need their money. You do not want to be part of that last minute rush. Dear friends, take the necessary money out of the bank soon. Buy the things you will need to keep you for a period of a few months until they get all the bugs found and fixed in all the essential computers. Some are saying six months and some fools think there will be no problem. I feel that somewhere, for nearly everyone, there is a computer that will not get fixed that will cause a significant problem. We should each do what we can. Even if there is no problem it will cost almost nothing to buy some things sooner rather than later. It is always prudent to keep a stock of provisions on hand in case of emergency.

What to buy? Here's what I'd suggest:

Food items that need no refrigeration. Beans, wheat berries (got a grinder?), other grains, canned goods, dry milk, honey, shortening, dried fruit,

A gas generator, as much gasoline as you can safely store, a gas camping stove, a kerosene heater and fuel, wood for the fireplace, a battery powered radio, batteries.

If you take prescription medications such as insulin, be sure to have an ample supply in advance.

Money, silver coins, small gold coins in case of money supply problems.

Some recommend to buy a handgun but we will probably not do that.

Store some drinking water too.

If you can not afford to protect yourself then make advanced plans with another brother who may be able to help you. Do not spring this request on them at the last minute when it will be harder on them. If you can afford to, you should make provisions for a few others who will not be prepared. It is the loving thing to do.

Brethren, we need not fear the future because Yahweh will protect His people as He has in the past. The important thing is to love Yahweh and depend on Him for protection. "The name of Yahweh is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe," Proverbs 18:10.

This does not mean we can ignore warnings of trouble ahead. Proverbs 22:3 reads, "Wise is the one that sees the calamity and prepares to take refuge, but the inexperienced keeps going along and suffers for it." No one who understands all the ways things could go wrong believes there will be no problems. It is just a question of how much it will take to get the worst ones fixed and how much damage will be done in the meantime. There is a large consensus of vision on this topic. Take counsel and protect your family.

I don't want to make this a forum for Y2K but I wanted
to share with you a comment from another reader:

"You wouldn't believe how many have their head in the sand,
thinking they can go along their merry way and not prepare.

I even know one brother who is in TOTAL DENIAL about Y2K.
He owns his own business and he says Y2K is a "trumped up"
problem and that nothing will be wrong at Y2K.

We had a discussion about this and he told us all this, stood up
and walked out!

"....the company I work for is world renowned, and we test
systems daily to see if they are Y2K compliant.......and they're not."

I'm sorry this message is so long, but it takes a little to explain the problem.

May Yahweh bless you with love on this Sabbath Day.

Sabbath Greetings for 11-14-98   The Great Day of Yahweh

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Back to the coming of the Kingdom of Yahweh. (See SG 10-31-98)

Two weeks ago we shared some scriptures about the time leading up to Yahshua's return.
We could talk about the seven seals now but I like to keep this short
so we'll go right to the Great Day of Yahweh, the return of our Messiah.

Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying:
"You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals;
For You were slain, and have redeemed us to Yahweh by Your blood
out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 and have made us kings and priests to our Elohim.
And we shall reign on the earth."

Revelation 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded:
And there were loud voices in heaven, saying,
"The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Sovereign
and of His Anointed One, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

Zechariah 14:4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, Making a very large valley.
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south.

Revelation 20:2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit,
and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more
till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection.
Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of the Messiah,
and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

1 Corinthians 15:51 Look! I'll tell you a mystery:
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed;
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.
For the trumpet will sound,
and the dead will be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
55 "O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?"
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to Elohim, who gives us the victory through our master Yahshua the Messiah.

58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable,
always abounding in the work of Yahweh,
knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Master.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Master Himself will descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of Elohim.
And the dead in the Messiah will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds
to meet the Master in the air.
And thus we shall always be with the Master.

Matthew 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him,
then He will sit on the throne of His glory.

HALLELUYAH!! We pray that we all will be there on that day! As Yahweh wills.

Next Sabbath we plan to share some descriptions of the Kingdom! We're looking forward to it!

May Yahweh bless you with hope and joy on this Sabbath Day.

Sabbath Greetings for 11-21-98   Descriptions of the Kingdom

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

Here are the promised descriptions of the Kingdom.

As we look at these pictures it is easy to see why the saints are praying "Thy Kingdom come!":

Isaiah 2:2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the Sovereign's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it.

Isaiah 35:1 The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; 2 It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of Yahweh, the excellency of our Elohim.

3 Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees.

4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted, "Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your Elohim will come with vengeance, with the recompense of Elohim; He will come and save you."

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

6 Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

7 The parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water; in the habitation of jackals, where each lay, there shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

8 A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray.

9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it. They shall not be found there. But the redeemed shall walk there,

10 And the ransomed of Yahweh shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away!

Isaiah 30:20 And though Yahweh gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. 21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Isaiah 2:3 Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, To the house of the Elohim of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, and we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the Torah, and the word of Yahweh [Yahshua?] from Jerusalem.

4 He shall judge between the nations, and rebuke many people. They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.

Isaiah 11:6 "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 The cow and the bear shall graze. Their young ones shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den.

9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea.

Isaiah 65:18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I create; For behold, I create Jerusalem as a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19 I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in My people; The voice of weeping shall no longer be heard in her, Nor the voice of crying.

20 "No more shall an infant from there live but a few days, nor an old man who has not fulfilled his days; for the child shall die one hundred years old, but the sinner being one hundred years old shall be accursed.

21 They shall build houses and inhabit them; they shall plant vineyards and eat their fruit. 22 They shall not build and another inhabit; they shall not plant and another eat. For as the days of a tree, so shall be the days of My people, and My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands. 23 They shall not labor in vain, Nor bring forth children for trouble; For they shall be the descendants of the blessed of Yahweh, and their offspring with them.

24 "It shall come to pass That before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.

25 The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, The lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain," Says Yahweh.

Father in Heaven, LET YOUR KINGDOM COME SOON!

LET YOUR PERFECT WILL BE DONE IN THE EARTH!

Dear Friends, may Yahweh bless you with the gentleness of His kingdom on this Sabbath Day.

Sabbath Greetings for 11-28-98   Judgement Day

Dear Friends in Yahshua,

We've been reviewing scriptures about the Kingdom of Yahweh.
What happens AFTER that thousand-year period?
What happens when Satan is once again turned loose on humanity?

After one thousand years of following Yahweh's righteous ways
the earth will once again be a sweet place to be.

There will be abundant healthy food crops grown everywhere.

No animal problems of any kind.

Will there be no problem insects? I think so.

No more disease either! A blessed land indeed!

Isaiah 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain,
for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea.

In many ways this will be like a thousand-year Sabbath. Peace, blessings, keeping the law.

How good it will be to keep Sabbath with your neighbors
in the six or eight houses closest to you!

And just think of the Feast of Tabernacles!

Zechariah 14 tells us ALL NATIONS will be together in Jerusalem..

But this only lasts for a thousand years. Why is that? What happens then?

After the millennium comes the second resurrection and the Great White Throne judgement.

Someone must have figured out how many billions of people have lived on earth these six thousand years.
Since there are over 5 billion now, I suppose there will be 50 to 200 billion. LOTS OF PEOPLE.
I believe that most of the millennium will be spent getting ready for all these people to be resurrected.
Everyone who has ever lived will be there; but maybe not all at once.

Revelation 20:11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it,
from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away.
And there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before Elohim, and books [the Bible] were opened.
And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life.
And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books [the Bible].
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them.
And they were judged, each one according to his works.

See Matthew 25:31-46 for some details about this judging time.

"Therefore take up the whole armor of Yahweh,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." Ephesians 6:13

May Yahweh bless you with righteousness and hope on this Sabbath Day.
